I’m Jay Alexander, a creative practitioner and immersive media artist based in Plymouth and originally from Cornwall. I’m currently completing an MA in Immersive Media at Arts University Plymouth, where my research explores how spatial environments, sound, and visual storytelling influence audience mood, interaction, and emotional presence.
I specialise in Environmental Realism, combining 3D Environment Art, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, 360-degree fulldome design, digital augmentation, and audio-visual composition. I use Unreal Engine as my main tool for world-building, creating cinematic and interactive experiences for projection, VR, or real-time exploration.
My immersive outcomes integrate multichannel audio formats such as binaural, ambisonic, and Dolby Atmos to shape spatial perception and emotional tone. I work across tools like DaVinci Resolve, Reaper, and Photoshop to support detailed colour grading and immersive sound design. My technical skill set includes Reality Capture, Adobe Substance, Quixel Mixer, and Ableton Live, along with advanced use of Blueprints within Unreal Engine.
During my academic work, I collaborated with Real Ideas at the Market Hall 360-degree dome in Plymouth, helping to design and deliver immersive experiences for public and educational audiences. I also have hands-on experience in event production, installation setup, and projection mapping, contributing to projects that blend narrative, environment, and emerging technology.
Whether designing still scenes or responsive environments, I aim to create work that evokes emotion and presence. My creative themes often reflect urban memory, quiet detachment, and serene disconnection, inviting viewers to reflect through slow, atmospheric engagement. This website is where I share my projects, immersive experiments, and research. Feel free to explore and reach out.
